- Industry watchers were keeping an eye on two premieres at Cannes: ‘Rocketman’ and ‘Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.’ They are the only two big studio movies coming out all summer that aren’t sequels or spin-offs or otherwise a part of a bigger franchise. ‘Rocketman’ is the Elton John musical biopic, and the other is Quentin Tarantino’s first movie without Harvey Weinstein. Tarantino has a massive fan base, but he’s also still facing questions over his treatment of Uma Thurman during ‘Kill Bill’ and his treatment of female characters in this newest film.
