OC lost one of its titans of American Christianity last week when Chuck Smith passed away to cancer at age 86. Smith's Calvary Chapel revolutionized evangelical Christianity with its decentralized approach to the Gospel, helped to birth Christian rock, and spurred along mega-revivals that continue to this day, all with a hardline view of the Bible that condemned homosexuality and was a key player in the culture wars.
