Former Los Angeles Times editor John Carroll has died. He passed away over the weekend from a rare neurological disorder. He was 73. Carroll helped strengthen reporting at the Times, even as the newspaper faced growing revenue problems and cuts to its budget. During Carroll's five years at the L.A. Times, the newspaper won 13 Pulitzer Prizes, five of them in just one year. For more on his contributions to the paper, Kevin Roderick joins KCRW's Steve Chiotakis for this week's LA Observed.
