BuzzFeed Gets Serious About News

The website BuzzFeed is well-known for “listicles," quizzes, and cutesy advertorials promoting certain businesses. Now Buzzfeed is trying to make the site into something more journalistically viable. KCRW's Steve Chiotakis spoke with Kevin Roderick of LA Observed about BuzzFeed's foray into real news.

The website BuzzFeed is well-known for “listicles," quizzes, and cutesy advertorials promoting certain businesses. Now Buzzfeed is trying to make the site into something more journalistically viable. The website has teamed with Columbia University’s Graduate School of Journalism to facilitate a year-long reporting fellowship among reporters with a diverse and minority background. And they want to do more investigative journalism. KCRW's Steve Chiotakis spoke with Kevin Roderick of LA Observed about BuzzFeed's foray into real news.
