Hollywood, Gay Rights and Obama

Although tonight’s $40,000 a plate fundraiser is sold-out, President Barack Obama’s public support of gay marriage has galvanized Hollywood donors.

Tonight George Clooney is hosting a big Obama fundraiser at his home in Studio City which reportedly costs $40,000 a plate. The event has been sold out for a while, but in the wake of Obama's public statement that he supports same-sex marriage, Hollywood donors are galvanized. One iconic television producer -- Norman Lear -- and his wife have now decided to "max out" as they told the New York Times and give Obama a total of $80,000.
