J.K. Simmons and Patricia Arquette may have a tough time making space on their mantles for all the awards they've picked up this season for their supporting roles in Whiplash and Boyhood, respectively. Both will likely add an Oscar to that haul this weekend. Julianne Moore is also considered a lock for best actress for her role in Still Alice. The top contenders for best actor are Eddie Redmayne for The Theory of Everything and Michael Keaton for Birdman. Both won a Golden Globe, but Redmayne took home a SAG Award and a BAFTA, which gives him an edge at the Oscars. For best picture it'll be a battle between Birdman and Boyhood.Birdman has done better at the guilds and is about the entertainment industry, a favorite topic of the Academy, but don't rule out Boyhood completely. The 12-year-long project won the BAFTA for best picture and is unlike anything that's ever been attempted in Hollywood before.
