American balladeer Woody Guthrie is most often associated with his home state of Oklahoma and the folk scene of New York's Greenwich Village. But the singer spent several of his early years in Los Angeles, where his political views were formed and his songwriting really took off. A new book explores his time among LA's radical left-wing activists and intellectuals.
