If you've been following this presidential campaign you will know that Republican front-runner Donald Trump is really excited about his US-Mexico border wall. Building -- as in rebuilding the country's infrastructure -- is frequently mentioned, at least by Trump and the Democratic candidates. Trump often invokes China's Great Wall, and that country's boom in construction of bridges, dams and high speed rail. It turns out that eight out of China's top nine government officials are scientists or engineers. Is there a connection between innovation and the types of politicians we elect?
