Design and Architecture

Architecture in the Age of Fear

America has embassies in almost 200 countries, in buildings that have evolved to reflect this country-s extraordinary global power. We hear more about how America keeps a welcoming face on defensive buildings from James Polshek, architect of an embassy in Oman and the Clinton Library, and fine art photographer Elizabeth Lui, who's documented some of those buildings in Building Diplomacy: The Architecture of American Embassies. Also, a conversation with Carol Wells of the Center for the Study of Political Graphics on this year's Future Design Days conference and this year's theme of design in the age of fear.
