The writer's writer, Joy Williams, has written a book that spans her body of work – from familiar stories to new ones, The Visiting Privilege: New and Collected Stories (Knopf) showcases her deep, natural understanding of the process of writing. A process she doesn't care to elaborate on. Williams talks about being a bit superstitious when discussing stories in terms of structure and style, preferring instead to liken writing to a sort of magic whereby writers can put themselves in an almost religious state that allows them to receive their story.
