In talking about his new novel Aquarium (The Atlantic Monthly Press), David Vann tells us how the characters were born of staring for hours at different delicate fish until they revealed who he was supposed to write about. In a departure for him as a writer, the book also brings him into new territory with many firsts, including a happy ending.
