Meet Kenny! Kenny joined us this year as a Summer Marketing Intern and instantly became a part of the family! From helping out with hospitality at our Sound in Focus series, to sound interning for Morning Becomes Eclectic live sessions, Kenny really does it all. There’s no job too small or too big for him and he handles it all with a bright smile.

Get to know why he’s adored by all who works with him…
Where did you grow up and do you have any siblings? Pets?
I grew up in a town just outside of Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada called White Rock. Named for the painted White Rock on the beach. Us Canadians are super tactful, you see. More information about White Rock can be found in your local library. But if any articles try and tell you Docks Fish & Chips is better than Moby Dicks, you stop reading right there. That is a lie. I have one younger sister (wuddup MP), and no pets to speak of. My friend Ross is kind of like a pet, as he needs to be walked and fed from time to time. Does that count?
What 5 things would you wish you had if you were stranded on a deserted island?
- Surfboard
- Rash Guard (for obvious reasons)

- FedEx Package Containing a Hockey Skate
- Coconut Radio
What is your current occupation / what do you do outside of KCRW?
I engineer TV Trucks for a company called Proshow Broadcast. We do a lot of live events, mostly sportsing. It’s pretty fun. Daily activities include:
- Distribution of the WiFi password.
- Spouts of confusion.
- Pressing buttons and hoping for the best.
- Watching NFL Football on Sundays.
What is your fantasy occupation?
Professional trumpet player. Not because I know how to play the trumpet, but because it is the easiest piece of equipment to load in and out. Except maybe the harmonica, but there are lots of people who play that already. I want to be in demand.
When did you first discover KCRW?
My homie & fellow KCRW Member Tom Steel (yes, that is his real name. Pretty cool eh? Sounds like Randy Couture’s character in The Expendables) turned me on to KCRW after I moved to LA. He told me Henry Rollins had a show on Sunday nights, and I have been hooked ever since.
How did you find your way to our station for volunteering?
Waze told me to take a left on 17th off Pico, in to the parking structure. Saw KCRW written on the wall beside the cafeteria. It’s easier if you come in off 16th and can find parking off of Pearl, but we all know that’s impossible during the week.
What’s your current volunteer position and how long have you been at it?
Oh, tough question. I bounce around. Thursdays (when I’m not doing any of the activities listed in the “Current Occupation” section) I help out the sound engineer with the live bands on MBE. I Just finished PA Training, from time to time help out the Events Department, Underwriting, and Street Team. I like wearing as many hats as possible. Nothing beats a well broken in ball cap.
Favorite volunteer moment?
Getting to be Mike Watts roadie from the studio to the East Entrance elevator.

Favorite book, movie?
Book: I recently read “The Dharma Bums” by Jack Kerouac. That was pretty inspiring. Trains are much harder to hop now than they were back in the day though. I wouldn’t advise trying it.
Movie: No Country for Old Men was great. Loved the Soundtrack.
Favorite thing to do outside the station?
Surfing is pretty fun. I did that this morning actually. It was pretty nice. Caught a few rights, down at 2nd point in Malibu. This is tough because I stand goofy.
What does KCRW mean to you?
The world.
