Writer/director James Gunn always thought that the Guardians of the Galaxy were more palatable as a cinematic enterprise than a comic book enterprise. No one better, then, to turn the comic, about a ragtag group of outcast superheroes, which debuted in Marvel Superheroes #18 45 years ago, into the summer's biggest hit. In Marvel's Guardians of the Galaxy, Peter Quill (aka Starlord), joins Gamora, Drax, Rocket and Groot to battle the evil Thanos for the possession of a powerful orb. Gunn talks about adding a color palette to the film, why he's so influenced by Sergio Leone, and whether he thinks there will ever be a meeting of the Guardians and The Avengers.
