Electronic music producer and composer Dan Deacon is one of the ringleaders of the burgeoning Baltimore art scene, serving as the musical director for a progressive group of fellow artists and filmmakers. But he's also made a name for himself as a dynamic live performer – he spent the past year opening for Arcade Fire on their North American arena tour -- successfully breaking the boundaries between the artist and an often-jaded audience. Cleverly mixing high-minded concepts with low-brow pop sensibilities, Deacon has carved a niche for himself as one of the more unique performers around.
