The Airborne Toxic Event: All At Once

Hosted by

ap110418cover.jpgLos Angeles has always been home to many terrific bands, but it seems to be having a particular renaissance at the moment. One of the young bands leading the charge for local SoCal sounds is Los Feliz-based The Airborne Toxic Event. Their 2008 self-titled debut album certainly made a big splash, generating a devoted fan base that includes Carson Daly, Adam Clayton of U2, film director Paul Haggis and Jimmy Delshad, the mayor of Beverly Hills.

With near-constant touring, their live shows have become legendary, with acclaimed performances at Coachella and Lollapalooza to a “30 Shows in 30 Days” tour of the UK, as well as a sold-out concert at the Walt Disney Concert Hall in December 2009, where the group was joined by frequent collaborators the Calder Quartet and other special guests, a show documented for a live DVD and CD released in 2010.

Fans have been eagerly awaiting a follow-up album and their wait is nearly over. All At Once, their sophomore release, is full of the same passionate, dynamic, anthemic indie-rock that marked their debut, performed with an extra dash of confidence that is usually only found with more veteran acts.

Produced in LA by Grammy-winning super-producer Dave Sardy (Oasis, Wolfmother, Band of Horses), the new album hits stores on April 26. To celebrate, the band has a series of sold-out hometown shows at many of the venues where they first played in their ascent to the heights of affection of local music fans. But their expansive sound is too large to be contained, and they are sure to be headed for increasingly larger venues. One thing is clear: the new release from The Airborne Toxic Event is an event in its own right.
