For many, feeding the hungry on Thanksgiving day is a cherished tradition. If you’ve never done it before, consider helping out this year.

Westside Thanksgiving Community Dinner & Celebration needs everything from turkey carvers to hair stylists.

-There are lots of opportunities to help out the homeless on Skid Row. Help cook and serve food at the Midnight Mission or the Fred Jordan Mission. Wash people’s feet with the UCLA Christian Medical and Dental Association.

-Be an usher or a food sorter at the Victor Valley Rescue Mission.

-If you know someone who’s homebound, bring them a meal. Jewish Family Service of Los Angeles and the Foothill Unity Center can also set you up with people with need meals brought to their homes.

These are just a smattering of the volunteer opportunities available next week. Suggest more in the comments, and let us know if you’ve had any interesting experiences volunteering in the past.
